Mineral Trails
We picked up a leaflet in our campsite near Redruth about the Mineral Trails, so set out on the bikes on a really interesting well-marked route along gravelly tracks that were mostly flat (that makes a change!) The Wheal Maid Valley, where mining for copper and other ores started in the early 1700s, looked particularly striking but uninviting since a lot of the waste contains arsenic. We continued on the Coast to Coast (of Cornwall) Trail to Porteath and then back.
