A thrush greets me on the river bank
I went for a walk along the river Frome a little to the west of the town centre. I needed to recce how to get to a good vantage point where I could taking pictures recording the damage on a very neglected old mill building. It was hard to find points of access to the river through areas where light industrial buildings had been built on old derelict land on the flood plain.
When I finally managed to cross the river I was delighted to find a quiet stretch of river with overhanging trees providing dense cover. Unfortunately that means there is very little available light for pictures. I spotted a wagtail on the water's edge occasionally leaping into flight over spots where the river ran turbulently over exposed rocks. It would hover and and contort to catch flying insects. My extra is of the view downstream from that point.
Suddenly I saw a bird flying towards me below the branches and it landed in a tree on my left close beside me. I turned quickly and saw it nestling in the leaves and realised it was a thrush. I hardly ever see them locally so this was a delight. I grabbed a couple of snaps before it then squawked and flew away to the far bank.
