In the garbage....DARN.

We have lived here for 33 years next to the Park and never had a bear come into the neighbourhood even though they frequent the Park.


We have been looking after 'Doug the Dog' for the last couple of days.  Last night he started growling by our front door.  I couldn't see anything so I let Doug out and he sprinted towards the bear who quickly climbed the tree.  I couldn't see the bear but could hear his claws digging into the tree.
I quickly got Doug back into the house.  By then the bear came down and was back to eating out of our garbage can.  I tried to scare it with an air horn as well as banging shovels together to get it to leave. No luck.  It moved on to the neighbours garbage a short time later...


I sent this picture onto the Park Naturalist who described it as a 'Juvenile' sized bear.  He hopes that it will leave the area on its own, if not...well.....
