Gala Day Approaches!

The council has spared no expense in whipping the town into a celebratory frenzy. The original V.E Day bunting (1945) was retrieved from the damp underdrawing beneath the library. The town is now festooned in heady gaiety. Tens of thousands are expected to visit and enjoy the festivities. Greggs (the bakers) have promised an ample supply of sausage rolls for the week long shenanigans. The bunting will remain afterwards (an official statement from the council press office) and be an integral part of the Queen’s platinum (with or without Harry) jubilee.

It is all too much. I need a lie down.
