Creative Company

I was working on some more things for our photo wall as today's bit of deliberate creativity. This one rang me while I was doing so. And wanted to see what I was doing so we switched to video call. She chatted to me as I pottered and it felt so lovely and relaxed. She's calling most days now, and its making such a difference to us both. 

She'd been very pleased because it's her friend's birthday today and our gift we'd ordered arrived in perfect time for her to collect it from the house at lunch and give it to her, even if we had to settle for the amazon envelope as the wrapping. 

They are a little disappointed as yesterday's fudge doesn't seem to have set... "mama, how long do you think fudge should take in a not very good fridge...?" so we tried to figure out where things went a bit wrong. They're going to try melt it down again and have another go and see if they perhaps didn't get it quite hot enough for long enough... 

She's getting quite excited about Wednesday, when she's the only one from her year group not going on the school trip as they were allowed to choose to do their music things and she was meant to have 4 (though two have now been cancelled). But she is being allowed to spend the rest of the time in the boarding house so is looking forward to that. 

She told me about a masterclass they're doing tomorrow after school because they have a fairly exciting dep for their normal bassoon teacher, so the head of department has suggested a masterclass. Though Katie is excited, she's also trying to figure out how she goes, gets her tea and gets changed for ballet in time... I've sent that particular problem over to the house parent!
