Viva

This morning was И's PhD viva, the "rite of passage" that students seem to fear more than they should. She defended her thesis well, and will have corrections to do, but then it will be behind us, allowing her to focus fully on our solver. 

After a debrief with И, and a bit of work for two clients, I went into Edinburgh for a work event that I was obliged to attend wearing my "Director of Employability" hat. It wasn't too dull, and I had a nice chats afterwards with a colleague and one of our PhD students. Then, after a quick trip to my office I went home via Mum's.
