Princes Street Gardens

Today was wild and windy in Edinburgh with lots of clouds scudding across the sky. Before my meeting I headed for the famous gardens of Princes Street where the daffodils were in bloom. I liked the unusual serenity of this scene in the very middle of the city, with a couple strolling along and not another soul in sight, save for a couple of gardeners (extreme left) contemplating a pile of mulch. I suspect the brown area has been reseeded.

I have made a commitment in the weeks ahead to include castles and keeps, and here the masonry of Edinburgh Castle appears on the skyline to the left. Below on the Mound, is the Scottish National Gallery. There were plenty of tourists in Edinburgh, but they seemed to be intent on using the city tour buses. I think they were missing a trick by not taking time out to enjoy this tranquil area of our beautiful capital city.
