Victorian Life

Amy's class visited Gunnersbury Museum today, where they experienced life as a Victorian child. The whole class, including the teachers and parent helpers, dressed up in period costume, and they were encouraged to take their lunch in baskets or wrapped in tea towels for authenticity. I ended up making Amy's dress (really enjoyed it... I was inspired all thanks to the Great British Sewing Bee!) and the apron and hat was from when she had to dress up as a Victorian in Reception for the school's 175th anniversary.

They all looked great as they set off and Amy said it was a great trip... I think they all realised how different life was for children back then!
