Church this morning with the good people of Holy Trinity Ripon, followed by an allotment dig. Wisteria looking really good at the moment - beautiful scent too.
Boredom alert;
Wisteria ……
Wisteria is part of the legume family, also home to peas, beans, lentils and clover.
English botanist Thomas Nuttall named the Wisteria in memory of Dr. Caspar Wistar, an American physician, anatomist and promoter of vaccinations.
There are ten species of Wisteria, native to China, Korea and Japan.
The world’s largest known Wisteria is in California. It’s thought to be over 1 acre in size and weighs in at 250 tons.
