Yesterday we raided the Wardrobe store at the theatre to kit ourselves out in 1940's clobber for a Transition project which we were running today with 163 Primary 7 pupils, working with a whole cluster of primary schools and the local secondary school.

Throughout the day the pupils got to learn some tea dances to Glenn Miller music, create some 'Make do and mend' wall hangings, explore artefacts from the period, and devise some short performance pieces based on the experiences of young evacuees to the Vera Lynn track, We'll meet again.

It was a great day, there's no denying it, and the motto of 'keep calm and carry on' was certainly front and centre of my mind when an unplanned fire alarm in the middle of one of the workshops meant we had to evacuate the building, and then teach over the high volume of the alarm when we were allowed back in the building before it could be re-set. Well, it all added to the atmosphere, I'll give it that!
