Temperance Train
Into Loughborough to see Aziz to find that the marketplace was filled with ceramics stalls. Pity there's no more room in my house.
And Morris dancers. Two contrasting groups, the Northwest Ladies Morris (extra) and the Way of the Wyrd, a border Morris group. They were accompanied by drums and accordion. Really entertaining.
The photo shows a shot of the Temperance Train. Their spokesman explained that the first train journey organised by Thomas Cook in the nineteenth century travelled from Leicester to Loughborough with the travellers intent on telling Loughburians to give up the demon drink. The journey was paid for by the Temperance Society. The Way of the Wyrd have created this dance to represent it.
