Walking route

We visited ‘Dorothy Farrers Spring Wood’ today. It’s a stunning nature reserve owned by the Cumbria Wildlife Trust, near Staveley. A steep path led up through woodland carpeted with bluebells and areas of wild garlic. Lots of birdsong too, but it wasn’t until this afternoon when we had driven north through the Kentmere valley that we heard cuckoos, the first time for two years, and had a really good view of a pair of stonechats.
