And The Crowd Went Wild
So today was the day for going over to Leeds for a day of Rugby League.
First up was the Women's Challenge cup final. This was a good competitive game between Saint Helens and Leeds. Saint Helens were the eventual winners despite Leeds being 8-0 up at half time.
Next up was our match and I was hopeful but nervy. We took a 14-0 lead by half time and were dominant so I was even more hopeful, but still did not think we had done anywhere near enough to win it. I was proved right, as Saints soon ran in three tries and converted all of them to be ahead by four. So it remained until Liam Marshall got a length of the field try which was also converted to put us two in front with about five minutes to go. Boy were those five minutes long and tense, but eventually the hooter sounded and the celebrations and singing that had started at half time could begin again in earnest! It was quite exhilarating really!
These older sporting venues really do need to get with the times though! We need more - many more - women's toilets! The grounds were built when hardly any women went to football or rugby but times have changed, the world has moved on and their toilet facility provision has to move with the times!
Home now and time for a G&T or two!
