Final Home Game, Final Goal
By half time in our last home game of the season, it looked as though we had blown any chance of winning, conceding two soft goals to Boreham Wood by giving the ball away carelessly on the half way line and allowing them to run through unchallenged to score; in between their goals we managed to miss a penalty.
We looked to have given up hope of getting back in the game but played much better in the second half coming back to level the game. The photo shows our centre back and captain, Luke Wilkinson, striking the free kick for our equaliser. As you can see the keeper was expecting the ball to go to his right, but it actually went in the opposite corner of the net.
It’s been a bit of a low key season with a lot of uncertainty over the future ownership of the club, who will be manager next season and how many of the current players will still be here next season, so the post match celebrations were a bit muted, but at least we haven’t had any relegation worries this year.
This morning Tess, Chris and I completed the Park Run in reasonable times given the hot conditions and my back was more comfortable than last week.
