The foundation stone at the entrance to this large 1890s building in the centre of Harrogate reads:
THIS AND ADJOINING STONES WERE LAID FOR THE GLORY OF GOD AND FOR THE SALVATION OF THE PEOPLE.
This was the Salvation Army citadel but is now occupied by Villa Mercedes, described on the web as Harrogate's premier lap-dancing club!
