Wild Spring flowers
Gales force winds, which is why, I think, only 3 turned up for our walk today.
MrC and myself and L who was leading the walk.
Not a great start, as the car park in Wetherby, where we were meeting, was full, and there wasn't another long stay one.
We hung about for a bit, and L turned up and told us to go to the Sports Centre and park there. She would wait for the others and tell them to join us.
However no one else turned up, so the three of us did a lovely walk along the river Wharfe, to Linton village, then Collingham, and back along the river to Wetherby.
Although still windy, we were sheltered, and the sun was warm. In fact it was a beautiful day.
The wild flowers were at their best, and so decided to use the photos for today's blip.
Top right: Violets.
Top left: Celandines.
Bottom right : Wood Anemones.
Bottom left: Butterbur.
Butterbur always strikes me as a strange plant. The flowers come out first, and then the large green Rhubarb-like leaves follow on. Usually found on the banks of rivers, or streams.
(The roots are said to relieve migraines.)
We passed some wonderful large houses and gardens. Very "Posh"!!
This area is known as the "Golden Triangle" as the house prices are some of the highest in North Yorkshire.
Don't think we will be retiring there!
It's our annual dinner on Saturday, so will be able to tell everyone this missed a good day out!
