Stimulating afternoon pre-gig trip down to London with Mrs M, initially in The City near Smithfield Market then Islington.

We started at St Bartholomew's Hospital Museum which is accommodated in the original hospital administration and admissions block. Extras 1&2 shows the staircase painted by William Hogarth for free, rather than allow an Italian artist the commission.

Then next door to St Bartholomew the Lesser Church  Extra 3 which is the only church in England to act as both a hospital Church and a Parish Church.

Then to the nearby St Bartholomew's the Greater church. Main  pic shows Exquisite Pain - by Damien Hurst. The figure is holding a scalpel and carries his own skin (the saint was skinned alive). The font is where William Hogarth was baptised, another icon of mine. See also extras 4,5,6 .

It's one of the oldest buildings in London, with parts pre-dating the great fire (1666) and links to the historical "Worshipful Companies) of London eg for Haberdashers, Butchers and also to modern ones eg Tax  Advisors Company and the Guild of PR Practioners.
