Toothwort
I had hoped that today would be my last physiotherapy appointment after a year of treatment for my torn rotator cuff. Instead I've got more new exercises and another appointment at the hospital next month. But every cloud has a silver lining - on the way back from the hospital I spotted a roadside verge with dozens of what appeared to be green-winged orchids, worth another look sometime. My photo for today is a very strange flower - the parasitic Purple Toothwort (Lathraea clandestina) - which has no leaves and no chlorophyll. Here it appears to be parasitising Rhododendron.
