The Front Yard (Wednesday 4th March 2022)

With Gardening Wednesday deferred until Thursday and some nice weather promised I was all set to go out for most of the day, once the surgery had rung first thing as arranged in person the day before for them to fix up an appointment for a prescription discussion during the day. Unfortunately I was left locked in at home awaiting a call that never came. Thanks to their outsourced call centre it's nearly impossible to contact them these days.

Overnight a number of aquilegia had sprung into bloom, including some on the driveway. The virginia creeper planted onto the outbuilding from the driveway had at last started sticking its suction pads onto the wall, and some self-seeded white bluebells had sprung up on the other side of the drive.

Pride of place, however, must go to the green alkanet shown in the blip. This has regularly sprung up through the front yard's concrete path but this year has spread wider, taller and healthier than ever before, and so is this week's Wild Flower Week submission, with thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting.

In 2008 Rolling Stone magazine published a list of their Top 100 Guitar Songs, and this was recently rediscovered by a friend of my brother, the Spotlight Kid and sent to him. He was then inspired to create an updated Top 25 list of his own.
The original list included Johnny B Goode, but I thought that were I to create my own list I would instead choose Too Much Monkey Business because its lyric and construction directly inspired Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues, which would follow and in turn be followed by Radiohead's Subterranean Homesick Alien, because music is basically a chain letter across generations.
I finished compiling a Top 25 Guitar Songs on this day, realising I would need to make at least one other Top 25 because of all I'd had to leave out.
