Emperor Moth Caterpillar

I love doing a bit of a project with my class. I get emperor moth eggs from a friend and then raise them until they spin their cocoons. The following year they emerge, and I have the beautiful moths. My class learn about food plants & plants in our grounds.

This little beauty had a photo shoot with me this afternoon. It has shed a skin twice, so this is the 3rd instar.
