Peony
I am posting early today, as I am about to get the train to go up to London. I did think I would go up shortly after breakfast, but as it turned out I have been caught up in silly little chores and a few errands again, and so now I will quickly finish the ironing, have lunch and then go.
I bought myself some peonies the other day (much more expensive than last year, like everything else is these days), and I love it when they are fully open and floppy and blousy, so I could not resist taking some photos of them in preference to getting photos of London later on. Besides, on Saturday and Sunday I will be photographing in London all day so that will satisfy my need for that kind of photography.
When Gavin left for work at 6.30am this morning, he took my overnight bag and my camera bag, plus my outfit that I am wearing to the opera tonight (just a smart dress, nothing that special), so that I do not have to carry it all on the train with me. Then as is typical of me, I decided I wanted to take a different camera bag and add one more lens so as it turns out I am taking a camera bag with me on the train after all. We are staying one night at the RAC Club in London which is convenient and probably less expensive than a hotel, and we can walk from there to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (I will have flat shoes in my handbag for the walk!)
It will be a busy weekend with long days of photography - although we finish each day around 6pm we will be located in the east of London so by the time I get across London and the train home it will be late. I probably won't have time to comment on journals.
I finished reading Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, what a delightful read, I did not want it to finish. I listened to an interview with the author afterwards and it has been snapped up to be made into a TV series by Apple TV.
