Oh What a tangled web we weave
Poor Ms St Andrews Cross has been having a lot of trouble with her web recently. Twice the wind and rain has destroyed it and she has now moved around the corner and is in a frantic web building frenzy - she didn't keep still at all while I took some photos. I'm not sure what she's doing though - the web she is attempting to make now is not the usual St Andrews Cross style - more like the messy web she has put her egg sac in, in the next bush along (still waiting...). Perhaps she wants to make another one?
I had some nice(ish) shots of her spinnerets (releasing a double strand of silk - is that normal I wonder?), but who could resist the beguiling look on her face, with her come hither eyes? (quite a lot of you, I suspect).
Bigger is ok, but a bit grainy because it was dark, cold, wet and windy. More like Winter than Autumn now!
