Ranunculus fields

A grand splash of colour at the Carsbad Flower Fields where all these colourful ranunculus flowers are grown for their bulbs. They only bloom for a short period every year, this is the time to go.

We were able to view the Flower Fields from a convenient and very pleasant footpath which runs around and above the area and then carried on to complete the circuit to end back up at the Carlsbad Outlet Mall.

From there we drove up to Carlsbad village itself for coffee and lunch at one of our favourite places the Vinaka Cafe that lead on to a walk along the tops of the cliffs above the beach looking out over golden sands and sparkling seas. But you’ve seen shots like that before!

We had a short time to take a turn around the Carlsbad Farmers Market on State Street. Always a good place to visit with stalls selling farm produce they’ve grown on their own farms, some of it organic much free of pesticides and the like. Lots of street food and breads to be had too. We had an ice cream! First of the trip.

It was then time to pick up Landon from daycare, we have him now until Friday morning. When we went shopping for dinner tonight he asked if he could come with us. Without his dad. A big step. I think he was motivated by the thought of a toy car. He had a great time playing out back with his friends before and after tea.

He’s crashed out now.
