Honey Bee tapping at the Hive Entrance

I found several Honey Bee hives on an Estate and the 4 Hives in the front row where alive with activity, but the one closes to me had this one buzzing at the entrance, after a closer inspection ( with my 200mm zoom, I noticed it was tapping or scratching the woofing kedge at the Hives Entrance!!
One Bee did look out, but didn't venture onto the ledge, I'm guessing it was signalling to the others inside, that it had found an area to collect nectar / pollen?

I only stayed till I captured this shot ( well I took about 5 or 6 shots) thought Id better not disturb them... Better safe than sorry eh!
