An expensive day
I have been waiting for nearly a month for a plumber to come and to service our central heating boiler. It is a pressurised system and it has been losing pressure so rapidly that I have been having to recharge the system three times per day rather than once or twice per year. I had searched the house looking for a leak but could find none. The plumber soon found that the problem is that the main heat exchanger has corroded through and the pressurised water was dripping rapidly. The drips were being collected with the condensate and draining away so there had been no tell tale puddle under the boiler. We will need either to have a new heat exchanger fitted or to replace the whole boiler which is only 8 years old. I am awaiting quotes!
A damp start to today but the sun appeared mid afternoon.
