the ferry journey a longer one than i'd expected, 14 hours calculated door to door... once again paying less attention to what's going on than i should have, rising covid, a major outbreak in keelung bringing new rules into force, meaning no food or drink allowed on board, except for an hour or so around lunchtime... masks mandated for both indoors and out, rough seas under a force 6 or7 wind... taiwan almost invisible in the murk as we passed the north coast, rain pouring down, humidity sky high, the dock wobbling madly beneath feet, dry land a misnomer ....
