Island Life (#3)
Windy and now raining. Did have a walk first….and then a lovely long chatty zoom bookclub (a first for doing it this way from here!) talking about Conrad Richter’s 1953 book The Light In The Forest. A boy taken from white family in Pennsyvania after the Revolutionary war (late 1700s) and raised by Indians, then ordered back by the government. Two very different cultures.
H’s “to do” list is growing longer every day.
Lots of flowers on this water hawthorn (cape pondweed) in our wee pond. The level of the water has come up a lot with the rain since we’ve been here. (extra) Didn’t see anything I thought would be a frog, but liked the flowers.
Oops sorry… my added description of the birds disappeared . ! Yes, it is the junco in the yard waste bag in my dil’s parents’s barn that she has been sending that now is sitting on 3 chicks. One eggs was out of the nest so she put it back. Here was the first egg. April 17. Then 1 more the next 3 days for 4 eggs. She sat on them then, just leaving when someone came into the hay room. She may have been born there herself. The risk will be to be safe when they fledge and go outside. Fun to watch.
