Blackbird singing in the...
afternoon :-)
When we went to the garden centre last week we bought new bird feeders and a load of bird food and the birds have wasted no time in feasting.
Over the past few days it's been an absolute joy to watch lots of different birds feeding on the little hangers. There's been robins, wood pigeons, chaffinches, blue tits, sparrows, a couple I don't recognise and of course blackbirds.
They have a particular MO when it comes to getting the seeds and nuts. Rather than perch on the little perches on the feeders and eat, the perch and make it swing till the contents spill on the ground, or they peck them and throw them to the ground and once there's enough, they'll fly to the ground and peck away to their heart's content.
The black bird in today's blip was hilarious. He dive bombed the feeder landing for seconds at a time and swinging on it, using his weight to make it move two and fro quite violently, spilling its contents to the ground. I suppose it's much easier to eat on the ground than perched on the little plastic perches on the feeders. Not daft are they? :-)
Made a start on my holiday ironing and looked out the jackets I want to take. The weather could be lovely summer weather or cold, wet and windy (all on the same day) so it's not as simple as just taking one jacket.
Of course thinking positively, it's going to be positively tropical for the duration of our holiday.
Isn't it?
