New growth

The colour and form of the unfolding beech leaves caught my eye right at the beginning of our morning walk. Just a minute before I spotted this, I spotted a cuckoo on top of a tall tree, calling at the top of its voice. It didn’t hand around as I approached. However, I enjoyed the brief glimpse as they seem to be such secretive birds.
