A day on Hoy

At last - a long planned trip to Hoy.

For the journey there we had the bonus of a trip on a specially chartered smart boat which was replacing the usual ferry.

We took the minibus to Rackwick, then the long and winding path to the Old Man of Hoy. A chilly picnic, followed by a brisk return walk left us time to pay a visit to the brilliant Heritage Centre.

My photos of the Old Man were not up to much. I wasn't willing to go near the cliff edge to get a snap of the full height. The resulting images of the top 2 thirds of this impressive sea stack were a bit disappointing.

So my blip is the queue of happy day trippers waiting to go back to Stromness.
