Audubon's Birds of America
Today we visited Edinburgh to see an exhibition of Audubon's Birds of America at the National Museum of Scotland. I am so glad we made the effort to go, it was a stunning exhibition, just the right mixture of facts and explanatory videos to complement the extraordinarily detailed framed plates. There are 4 volumes and one was on display. Audubon called it 'The Great Book', which is the first extra. The second shows a smaller scale 'affordable' version.
It was hard to chose a favourite shot to blip. Sadly the parakeets I've chosen are now extinct.
We drove to a park and ride car park and took a bus into the city, right to the door of the museum. Early lunch before the exhibition and coffee and cake after completed a great day out. It was the first time we had used public transport for more than two years.
