Over the glass rainbow

I'd never heard of Chihuly Garden and Glass, I went in because it was next to the Space Needle. Each to their own pleasure, but I'm not a huge fan of 'modern art' when it involves a row of dots or a perspex square accompanied by an essay of all the 'meanings' the artist allegedly intended to invoke. I like my art visually interesting and not over-explained.

So, to sum up Chihuly Garden and Glass, if you 'ooh and ahh' at fireworks you will love this place. The colours and shapes are just gorgeous. There is plenty of background information on where the concept and designs emerged from. Or you can just wander from room to room and outdoors in the gardens that smell great as well as look fun and beautiful. I really wished I could just lay back on the floor and stare at the rainbow shells celling, or on the tree trunk outside amid the purple glass garden.

This place was an unexpected pleasure - gorgeous and I loved it.
