A young roe deer buck
This is one of a pair of young males that are currently wandering our local forest together. I suspect they have been shoved out by their mothers now new kids are on the way and for now have formed their own mini-herd.
Yesterday they spent a lot of time in the field outside our kitchen, tugging up new growth grass, but today they were nervous and walked quickly across the field and into the forest. There they relaxed again. Maybe it was the wind, which was blowing hard, that spooked them a little.
Anyway, once in the forest they relaxed and started chewing on the bilberry plants. I was lucky enough to get this chance for a picture, combining a gap in the trees and a fortuitous burst of sun.
The rest of the day was spent welcoming the spring with Lars, and then round at Rose's for an impromptu meal and a burst of tv watching!
