Pousada Viana do Castelo

We made it!

Didn’t really sleep too well after the bombshell of the cancelled flight, but up we were at 6:30 to T2 Madrid airport for our Air Europa flight to Porto. As we were waiting to board we got talking to a couple in their late 60s I would say from Denver (we nicknamed them John and Annie)! He was funny. He was talking about how they tour every May and Sept to Europe. Wished that more Americans did as they might not be so like hillbillies and be more liberal (as he tapped his head). His wife rolled her eyes at him….

It was a good short flight in an plane with two suits on either side of the aisle, and leather! The stewardesses were so stylish and attractive.

Picked up our hire car after a short mini bus trip to the sixt site. I asked the guy about supply issues and he confirmed was bad and had to stop taking bookings as not enough cars. We got a new Renault automatic mid range which is fine.

The place we are staying is stunning a Pousada set in a hill overlook a castle, the town below and the sea! So peaceful after the bustle of Madrid. We decided we would treat ourselves to a couple of nights somewhere nice.

After checking in we drove down to the town which was in full swing of Labour Day and Mother’s Day. A concert in the town plaza with traditional dancers. It’s great seeing all the families out enjoying themselves.

I am absolutely done in and could have slept by 7:30 but keeping going a little while longer.
I put the extra of our view!
