I didn't know there was any racing on today until I passed the course and saw all the traffic signs. The loop of the course is next to the former student accommodation of Hamilton Teacher Training College, now a housing development called The Furlongs, which is where I took the photo from.

This race was the 15.47 Strathclyde Sirens handicap. It was won by this horse, Heights of Aran, in a very tight finish. I had to look up the result and learned that if it is too close to call the horse whose head is going forward at the finish line wins 'on the nod'.
