Blipmeet, with a difference ~ backblip
An extra special Blipmeet – This morning we were all set to visit Blipper Stiffknees and her husband at their lovely house for coffee and a catch but the rattle in the car of yesterday certainly turned out to be ominous, and by the sound of the noise it made just as we turned into Sk’s road, thought it had to be terminal as we came to a dramatic halt. …… but in true kind fashion Sk came to rescue us, took us back to her house where we met the charming Mr Sk and, by way of a further surprise, the lovely Aliscotia. Whilst we rang our breakdown company we were looked after admirably and plied with coffee, lunch and lots of conversation, Mr Sk and Mr HB getting on famously. Aliscotia had to leave us before lunch but I have no doubt we will meet again.
The breakdown guy telephoned some 90 minutes later to say he was by the car and had identified the problem straight away by the white line along the road under our front off-side wheel - the offside anti roll bar droplink(??) had corroded, dropped down and needed removing. Unfortunately as fit as the breakdown guy was he wasn’t able to do this by brute force but that charming Mr. Sk kindly shot off home and came back with a hacksaw and between them they disarmed the offending beast. We were then ‘good to go’ and the car was able to drive again, thus doing away with the awful prospect of a rescue, which didn’t include ‘Matilda’ (caravan).
Before we set off back to camp our wonderful rescuers took us into the pretty town of Northleach for a sit down at The Black Cat café for a restorative coffee and cake.
The kindness of Blippers knows no bounds and we are eternally grateful to two of them, the very wonderful Mr & Mrs Stiffknees. Thank you.
NB: The next day we travelled home with ‘Matilda’ behind us without incident and the car is booked in to our garage next Tuesday for a pair of anti-roll bar droplinks!!
