Oak and Ash

If the oak before the ash
Then we shall get a splash
If the ash before the oak
Then we shall get a soak.

I think the oak is just edging it (the ash only showing tiny flowers), so we're in for a dry-ish summer.

I rescued the spotted catsear (extra from a couple of days ago) from certain destruction by the cooncil man with the spray gun and discovered it was four plants! Have put them in pots, although not sure how they'll do in peaty soil when they apparently like lime-y soil (hence their attachment to the mortar in the wall, presumably).

Just as I was leaving I noticed a dead rat on one of the paths (fortunately not one that I'd strimmed). I was alerted to it by a cloud of bluebottles. Eeeugh!
