All in a days work . . .
Mrs W wanted a netting cage to keep the birds of her fruit trees. She only had one last year and I’m not sure what it was because the blackbirds (and others) nicked the lot so I never got to work out what they would have been. She did tell me but I can never remember, like the herbs . . .
Anyway options worked their way down to wire netting as bird netting on poles is not suitable on the patio, and the only panels I could find at a reasonable price was a pack of ten 2ft x 3ft from Screwfix. They turned out to be a lot lighter than I thought (I should have read the product description properly) so freestanding was out of the question. You should appreciate that this is/was a design as you build project!
Part one, the cage sides, was a doddle, and all could have been fine if Mrs W hadn’t wanted it taller. She did not see why the plants couldn’t be trimmed three inches shorter. So to get over this some three inch fence post cut-offs we dug out of retirement. This of course meant the floppy bottom had to be stiffened up to stay on the fence posts etc etc. An hour or so work became an afternoons project, and one old f*** overdoing it again.
Anyway it was a latish finish and I was too pooped to blip last night, so this is Sunday morning, and that was Saturday - why do silly things always happen on a Saturday? I think we are being watched from above . . .
