Pigeon racing

In the Canary Islands, the pigeon racing is a very important and popular sport : the pigeons are flying a great amount of kilometres, from an island to another, the races are very tough because of the strong wind and the difficulties for the pigeons to find water in the desert landscape of the islands.
To celebrate this popular sport and the pigeons, a statue has been erected in the promenade of Gran Tarajal, that you can see in this picture.
