They say I'll adjust, God knows I must

Back to work for a meeting after seven months off today and it was a pretty dull morning for it as I crossed the county border into Durham. It was very hard leaving the girls, especially saying goodbye to Arwen for the first time. I felt like I'd had a limb cut off to be honest - difficult to separate after carrying her around inside me for nine months and then hardly being away from her side day and night ever since. I had my favourite CD - the opening track of which provides today's 'guess the song' blip title- in the stereo and so was uplifted a little by the time I got to the office. It was very nice to see my colleagues and actually quite refreshing to have three or four hours where I was able to focus on one thing without having to tend to my little ones. The 80+ mile round trip commute was tough though.
I got back here mid afternoon in time for a quick cuppa and slice of cake at a friend's house and a play date for Arwen with three other little baby girls.
I return to work for real in three weeks' time. My leave has gone by so quickly. It's the least time I've taken off for any of my babies, but financial needs must. At least I love my job, which is helpful.
