What's the Time?
Umm ... It's another watch init. This one arrived today in fact ... once again straight from China. It is not dissimilar to my last watch blip, reason being that it is also a Rolex sports watch "homage". Like the last one it carries the brand "Pagani Design".
Thing is that I could never afford to buy the Rolex version at $14,000 let alone the grey market sourced same watch for roughly $18,000. Going on a wait list at a Rolex authorised dealer for a year or two is also a fool's errand, given that the model in question is often deleted from the range or updated to a new (still MORE expensive) model by the time it may be due to arrive. Ridiculous. If one likes the Rolex designs, Chinese manufacturers make millions of close (but legal) copies every year. Unlike the junk "fakes" of only a few years ago, these are made from essentially the original materials, to much the same specs, are finished astonishingly well ... and you can get one now. What is more, it comes at a price that mere mortals can afford.
This is a close (but deliberately not "exact") copy of a Rolex GMT Master II in "batman" livery. It enables one to keep track of at least two time zones simultaneously. As always a phone does it better .. but hey.
This is the first of my watches to carry an actual Chinese designed movement. Around the traps they say it is reliable and accurate but we'll see.
