Brightness

These are the sunglasses my groomsmen and I wore on my wedding day.

They represent brightness, happiness, and will forever be THE physical item connected to the nostalgia and happiness of that day. My wife Nikki even put them on for one of her favorite wedding pictures.

Sunglasses protect ones eyes from the brightness of the sun. These in particular protect me from the grayness of time and its tendency to make once bright memories fade.

Every single moment I put them on I think of the amazing day last July 28. I married my best friend and soul mate, I gained many more family members, all my close friends and family were there. It was also somewhat of a send off for Fernando as he made his way across the world to Turkey.

These sunglasses are blue (my favorite color). They have a checkered design - how is that not cool? They also represent the bright spring and summer sun and lush, green flora produced by the change in season.

An image brought to mind immediately upon putting these on is the image of myself, my eight groomsmen and four ushers together, all of us wearing our shades and showing off our personalities.

You know they say certain smells trigger the memory to a time and place from the past. I'm pretty sure these sunglasses would trigger all the bright and happy moments from my wedding day if I was to find them 20,50 years from now. From there all other memories of how I became connected to each person at my wedding will follow.

i love my friends and family
