Devil’s Lime Kiln
We are on Lundy to help present the Marine Life Lundy Experience, and so this morning it was the cetacean biology course. Everyone was very interested and most people scored well in the quiz at the end.
After lunch we took a walk to Lundy Castle for a seawatch. The castle, like most of the buildings, has been converted into delightful holiday accommodation, these ones with wonderful sea views!
Further along we followed a narrow path along the cliff edge to Benjamin’s Chair. This is a precarious ledge where Victorian ladies in their huge skirts used to take a picnic! We found one of the Lundy Letterboxes and stamped our notebooks, and found the elusive Rabbit stamp, that hops around from one letterbox to another as people give him a lift. Some people never find him!
We proceeded to the Rocket Pole, where gunners used to practice shooting ropes at targets, and found its letterbox too.
Another path led us steeply down to the Devil’s Lime Kiln, where a sea cave has collapsed.
On the way back I visited the church and asked the puffin a few questions, he really knows a lot about the island see extra!
Rob and I climbed the lighthouse to watch the sun set.
