The Jade and Snail
Jade Snail Tea, aka Yunnan Biluochun Green Tea, comes from Lincang, Yunnan, China, which is shown on the location map.
Apparently the tightly rolled fuzzy buds of this China green tea resemble spiral shells or the scroll of a violin. While steeping, they unfurl to deliver intricate notes of roasted nuts, soft smokiness and a hop-like crispness. It has a mildly astringent grassy flavor reminiscent of a Sencha. The grassiness is balanced out by a soft nutty flavor that's often found in white teas. As it fades, a dry white grape character lingers. The Jade Snail is intriguingly delicate and bold.
Well that's what it says in the adverts. It all sounds a bit precious and very expensive - I think that I will just stick to my old favourite, Yorkshire Gold, from Taylors of Harrogate.
