The Godstone.
The above stone is in the graveyard of St. Luke's Church in Formby, Merseyside.
Local folklore and legend claim this ancient stone was used in the conversion to Christianity of Vikings who settled in this area.
Others say it was used at burials, the corpse was carried round the stone following the path of the sun.
The incision shows steps which lead up to the Godhead. The stone which stands 42cm high was moved from its original site on what was the village green to its present site in 1897.
Whatever the true story is, we will never know, but it provided me with today's blip.
