A Catalan Village

Els Segurets

This is at the end of a lane just before it meets the main road at the bottom of the village, and the small building houses a pump - you can just about see the pipe coming out from the front wall.

If you insert a 50 cent token you can have 1000 litres of water pumped up from the underground stream, which people usually collect in a large cube on their tractor trailer. Up to a couple of years ago this area was very busy during the summer months, with local farmers collecting water for their crops, but now that river irrigation has arrived, pumped up from the Ebro, there are far fewer takers.

Can you see the swallows taking a dip in the puddle?
