Jubilee

We don't very often get steam hauled excursions that terminate at Grange over Sands but today was the day.  The Great Britain XlV excursion is circumnavigating the whole of the country over a couple of weeks.  Today's route started at Stirling coming via Carlisle and the Cumbrian coastal route to Grange.  It will continue tomorrow heading for Chester.  The main picture shows Leander, an ex LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' class locomotive, coasting in to stop at Grange station.  The extra shows Leander pulling out of the station with the empty stock to travel to Carnforth for overnight stabling.  The passengers were all taken away in coaches to expensive hotels for the night.

If anyone wants to see this train tomorrow, it will leave Carnforth with the empty stock early and is timed to pass through Grange at 0638 heading west.  It will turn round at Dalton and will be back at Grange to pick up its passengers at 0750 and will leave Grange heading east at just after 0800.  It should therefore be crossing the Arnside viaduct at about 0634 westbound and about 0805 eastbound.
