Early Morning- Stromness Day11

One thing you should never do is go swimming in the sea on your own. This morning I went swimming in the sea on my own at 6:30am.
The Scrabster ferry had just left it’s berth when I padded out of the flat in my bathing costume and coat for the 10 minute walk along the deserted street to the slipway and a high tide. It felt safe as I didn’t swim far from the safety of the concrete under my feet.

A walk home in my long towelling robe with a coat on top and feet in Jesus sandals and coloured socks gave me the look of someone who should be delivering leaflets for some obscure religious sect. Thankfully, there was still no one about at 7am.

Later feeling that a cheese scone would hit the spot I had a bus trip into the big smoke of Kirkwall and coffee at Lolz café. The owner swam with us on Sunday and I arranged an early morning dip tomorrow with her.

I’ve done my afternoon stroll round the policies and now I feel it’s time for a little glass of something with some nibbles as I sit in the garden keeping an eye on the water traffic. The weather is almost sunny but it’s still cold , feeling like 7°.
