Looking Both Ways
This is the North Stratford Canal near Hockley Heath. It is a relatively quiet canal but it was looking particularly beautiful in the stillness and sunshine this morning. If you look at the shot in extra, you may be able to work out why we were in the area! It all turned out to be most acceptable!
With regard to the Headless Cross from yesterday, I haven't found out very much so far - two ideas - one that in pre-reformation times a headless cross was used to mark a parish boundary, or two - over zealous puritans may have decided that the crosses were inappropriate and took action to alter their appearance... It seems to be a bit of an unclear area...
