A captured glance....

Honey, I have created a monster

In general we have two happy go lucky children, except when it comes to boiled eggs.

When the topic of boiled eggs comes up they start to behave like despots! Not too soft, not too hard. Toast soldiers, no, no fresh bread etc.

I freely admit that this egg monster is our creation. S, their Dad is very precise in nature and this is reflected in how he cooks the eggs, always the same way for the same time, always.

The problems arise when a more casual approach is taken by others, like their grandparents...or me! We take risks, don't always use the timer and the consistency of the egg is like taking a gamble.

How do we teach them that life is full of hard boiled, cracked and even rotten eggs, and that these eggs are ok too. That all eggs have their place in the world and are just as nice as the 'perfect egg' ? Life is so much easier when you realise that things don't always turn out exactly how you want them too, and that it's OK to be different.

Who knew that life lessons could the extrapolated from the humble egg.......
